“There Ought to be a Law” contest invites residents of Assembly District 12 to share their ideas for potential legislation.
SACRAMENTO, CA –Assemblymember Damon Connolly (D-San Rafael) is hosting his fourth annual "There Ought to Be a Law" contest. This program allows residents of Assembly District 12 (AD12) to propose new state legislation that could improve the lives of 38.9 million Californians.
Last year, over 300 ideas were submitted by constituents throughout the North Bay. With such enthusiasm, Assemblymember Connolly is excited to introduce this opportunity again for his fourth year in the State Legislature and bring the ideas of AD12 residents to Sacramento. North Bay residents are passionate, engaged, and involved in their local communities, and his office is looking forward to hearing their ideas for potential legislation that address the issues most important to Marin and Sonoma County.
Proposals can include ideas for local community improvements, statewide reform, revisions to existing laws, entirely new policies, budget requests, funding proposals, and more. To submit your ideas, visit Assemblymember Connolly’s website and fill out the form before January 16. This contest is open to all AD12 residents. After the contest closes, participants will be contacted directly to discuss their ideas. Assemblymember Connolly will make an announcement of the winner shortly after the contest closes.
Contest winners are invited to Sacramento for a tour of the State Capitol and may even have an opportunity to testify on behalf of their bill at a formal hearing. However, the real prize is knowing that their ideas have the potential to become California law!
